Letter To The Editor: Euro Referendum

Why Viv will be voting to stay in Europe

Dear Editor,

I’m now nearing retirement age and my personal dream has for a long time been to eventually live in a sunny European country. If we were to vote to leave the EU on June 23rd it would call into uncertainty the right of British citizens to go and live in France, Italy, Spain or anywhere else in the EU that people might find desirable.

It is currently easy and cheap to get to Europe (thinking of my friends and family coming to visit!), we benefit from public health care arrangements and mobile phone roaming charges being abolished. I wish to continue to do some work as in my field as a freelance executive coach I can work for global organisations in Europe as well as the UK, I like this possibility.

Nothing in the Leave campaign literature is giving us information on the effect leaving the EU would have on living & working in the EU. 1.2m British people are living in EU countries, if Britain votes to leave it is not clear whether they would be entitled to stay in their host countries.

I want the option to remain for me and for my children to live, work and study in the EU, so I will be voting to stay In Europe.

Yours faithfully,

Viv Vella
