Wimbledon Foundation Providing Support To Ukraine Crisis Response
Donations totalling £150,000 being made to charities working

The Wimbledon Foundation, the charitable arm of The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) and The Championships, is supporting the Ukraine crisis response through donations to the British Red Cross and the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC).
A donation of £100,000 will be made to the British Red Cross to support their Ukraine Crisis Appeal. This is in addition to the annual donation that the British Red Cross receives as the Wimbledon Foundation’s emergency response fund partner which goes towards its Disaster Fund.
The British Red Cross’s Ukraine Crisis Appeal is funding both the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The URCS and neighbouring National Societies are on the ground providing first aid, warm clothes and shelter support to those impacted. The ICRC continues to operate in Ukraine, working to restore water supplies, providing support to medical facilities, and providing food and shelter to those affected by the fighting. More than one million people have left Ukraine since Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian army to invade. Red Cross teams in bordering countries are providing counselling, hot food and drinks, and helping families to stay connected.
The Foundation will also be donating £50,000 to the DEC’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal to help provide food, water, shelter, healthcare and protection to families fleeing the conflict.
Bruce Weatherill, Chairman of the Wimbledon Foundation, said: “The crisis in Ukraine has shocked and distressed us all. As the charity of an international sporting event, it is important to us that we are supporting people not just in our own local communities but also internationally, particularly in times of crisis. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this terrible situation.”
