A woman has been charged with an offence of racial aggravation an incident on the Croydon to Wimbledon tram, which was captured on video by another passenger.

Emma West, aged 34, of New Addington was charged with Racially Aggravated Section 4a on Monday (November 28) and remanded in custody.

She appeared at Croydon Magistrates Court on Tuesday (November 29) where she was remanded in custody for a week.

Psychiatric reports will be completed in due course and she will appear in court again on Tuesday December 6.

The YouTube video has now been uploaded more than 2 million times.

The trams run from Croydon to Wimbledon and it is not clear where on the line the incident took place. But one comment on the YouTube link said it took place as the tram travelled to Wimbledon.
