An action-packed day is promised at Wimbledon Rugby Club on Saturday (November 27) to mark the opening of the new clubhouse.

The new clubhouse, a much-needed extension of the previous building, will be opened at 5.30pm by Stephen Hammond, Wimbledon MP and Oonagh Moulton, Mayor of Merton.

A range of activities will take place throughout the day, including a President's Lunch; matches involving the 1st XV, 2nd XV and the ladies' team; a children's entertainer; mini-disco; live music and a late night party.

A silent fund-raising auction will take place at 7pm, with lots including a Martin Johnson-signed England shirt from the 2003 World Cup; a day's deer-stalking; a golf four-ball at Birhill GC with Rob Henderson and Bob Casey; Tickets for England v Scotland at Twickenham. The day starts at 12.30pm at the club in Barham Road, Copse Hill, Wimbledon.
