Police are appealing for witnesses after thieves stole cash, jewelley and a large safe during a daylight raid on a home near Morden.

Burglars broke into the house on Cannon Hill Lane, near the Queen Mary Avenue junction between 2.25pm and 3.50pm on Friday October 21.

The metal safe was so heavy that they caused extensive damage to the patio and police believe there may have been witnesses who saw them struggle to carry it.

DC Tony Davies, of the Merton Burglary and Robbery Team, said: "This burglary happened in the middle of the day and may have been innocently witnesses by a number of people who did not know what they were seeing at the time.

"These burglars removed an extremely heavy safe from the property and we believe it would have taken several people to lift this into a vehicle."
