New parking plans to be discussed

A public meeting is taking place on Wednesday (March 23) over plans to change the current parking arrangements at Wimbledon Park.

Local councillors have organised the meeting at Bowling Pavilion in the Park in Home Park Road from 6.15pm-7.15pm.

They aim to provide local residents and other interested groups with information on the changes being considered by Merton Council to address safety issues relating to the car park.

The plans are being developed in response to concerns raised by a number of residents in recent years about the current arrangements for providing overflow car parking facilities at the park in the summer months.

Proposals are still at an early stage but could include the creation of a mini roundabout and more disabled parking provision. Should the Council decide to go ahead with the changes, planning permission would be required at which point there would need to be further consultation with residents and others.

Details of the plans can be viewed in the Park's Pavilion Cafe until Thursday (March 24). Those who cannot attend the meeting are encouraged to send their views to their ward councillors.
