More advisers will be trained to work for local Citizens Advice Bureaux thanks to the awarding of £6,250 from the NatWest Community Force.

The award was made to Merton and and Lambeth Citizens Advice Bureaux after a public vote, with many www.wimbledonsw19.com readers giving them their backing.

Now Debbie Chapman, Strategic Social Policy Coordinator for the local CAB, has written to thank you for your support. Her letter to the editor said:

"You very kindly encouraged your readers to support us in our bid to win a NatWest CommunityForce award. I am delighted to say that we are one of the three winners in the Wimbledon area.

The other two winners are 5th Morden Scout group, who need to buy a new minibus as their current one cannot be used when the new emissions regulations come into force, and Stem 4 a charity which helps teenagers with mental health problems.

We look forward to putting our £6,250 to good use in the New Year to train more, much needed advisers to help keep up with the growing demand for advice in Wimbledon.

We have been really heartened by the enthusiasm for this and the numerous messages of support from other local organisations for the work we do.

But most of all we would like to thank you and all of your readers who supported us, both by voting and also by encouraging others to join in and vote. We really appreciate the effort you put in, not only by mentioning it on your website, but also tweeting all your followers. We would not have done it without you. Again, very many thanks."
