Wimbledon manager Terry Brown has made ex-Ipswich midfielder Sam Moore his latest signing as he puts the finishing touches to the club’s first full-time squad.

Moore has featured as a trialist in Wimbledon’s pre-season games after being released by Dover Athletic so that he could pursue a return to the professional game.

Brown told the AFC Wimbledon official website: "Sam has impressed me in the games he has played and in training. He gets his tackles in and covers the entire pitch. He will be a real asset to us."

Moore started as a youngster with Chelsea before turning professional with Ipswich Town, and has also played for Gillingham and Stevenage Athletic.

He joins other summer signings Andre Blackman (from Bristol City), Ismail Yakubu (Barnet), Lee Minshull (Tonbridge Angels), Rashid Yussuff (Gillingham), Christian Jolley (Kingstonian) and Mark Nwokeji (Dagenham & Redbridge).

Dons boss Brown is still rumoured to be chasing one or two more faces to add to the squad. Ex-Arsenal left-back Rene Steer featured as a trialist in Friday night’s friendly against Millwall, while Fraser Franks and Ed Harris again impressed at centre-back.

But trialists Michael Noone and Tae Hun Kim have been released after turning out for the Dons in their initial pre-season games.

• Wimbledon will be among the Conference clubs that benefit from a £6m gift from the Premier League.

The country’s top league will be giving the Conference £2m per season for the next three seasons. £1.2m will be given to Conference clubs, with the remaining £800,000 put into a central club development fund.

Wimbledon and other clubs will be able to bid for money from the fund to help finance local youth development and “good causes” projects.
